As goes for anything in life. A topic which has been written about over and over again by anyone who has achieved anything in life. Falling down is a part of life. Coming up short is the risk you take when you want more, and it’s something I’ve been very familiar with
I was scraping myself off the forest floor again on Sunday. After a misplaced rock cost me another ride. I limped back home, defeated. Wondering why I couldn’t have been more passionate about video games, or online poker.
Misfortune has always shown me more than victory ever has. Thankfully, I’ve failed many times and have tasted victory less times than I can remember, and have many shortcomings ahead still. I’m wiser now thanks to this, and I handle objections, and rejections better now. It’s made me who I am. My character was built on loss. I can’t change it, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Competition breeds toughness and resiliency. These days I really only compete with myself. I find the fiercest battle within myself to simply be a better me. Regardless of the shortcomings, I ride on. I live, I fail, I learn.
